Student Spotlight: Will Beasley

Discipline, Determination, and Limitless Learning at GOAL

Will Beasley’s experience at Germantown Online Academy of Learning (GOAL) is a powerful example of how flexibility and self-discipline can open doors for motivated students—both academically and athletically.

Balancing Academics and Baseball

GOAL’s flexible learning model has played a key role in helping Will pursue his goal of playing baseball at the collegiate level while staying on track academically. The ability to pace himself with coursework has allowed him to dedicate significant time to training, preparation, and development as a student-athlete.

“It has allowed me to spend more time preparing myself to play baseball in college while also pacing myself with academics.”

Skills for Life Beyond High School

As a GOAL student, Will has developed essential skills that will serve him well long after graduation. Chief among them are time management and self-discipline—skills required to successfully balance rigorous academics with a demanding athletic schedule.

“GOAL requires time management skills and discipline to excel in academics while also pursuing my passion for baseball. Time management and self-discipline are extremely important as a GOAL student.”

What Limitless Learning Means to Will

For Will, GOAL’s “Limitless Learning” philosophy reflects more than just academics—it represents opportunity. GOAL allows students to expand their learning through a wide range of courses while also creating space to grow in other areas of life beyond the classroom.

“To me, ‘Limitless Learning’ embodies the spirit of GOAL as GOAL allows students to broaden their horizons with a wide array of course offerings while also allowing flexibility to learn in other areas of life outside of the classroom.”

Staying Connected Through In-Person Experiences

GOAL’s in-person experiences help Will stay connected to a community of like-minded students who are also pursuing non-traditional paths.

“It is great seeing others that are experiencing the same alternative academic experience while also pursuing their passions, entrepreneurial endeavors, trade skills, or other hobbies.”

Advice for Future GOAL Students

Will encourages prospective students to honestly assess their readiness for a self-paced environment.

“If you have the necessary self-discipline and you would like to get a head start on your career, increase time devoted to an athletic pursuit, or simply experience a self-paced academic curriculum, GOAL is a great option.”

Looking Ahead

Will has officially signed to play baseball at the United States Military Academy at West Point, New York, where he will continue his academic and athletic journey.
