Snow Days, Warm Connections: GOAL Students Celebrate Learning and Community

Snow days may have kept Germantown Online Academy of Learning (GOAL) students at home, but they didn’t slow down learning—or connection. During recent virtual Snow Day sessions, Dr. Heather Fisher and her trusty co-worker, Presley, welcomed students into a series of cozy, engaging experiences designed to build community while embracing the fun of winter.

Students participated in a Hot Chocolate and Hello! session, where warm drinks paired perfectly with thoughtful conversations and student voice. The Snow and Share session invited learners to connect through stories, laughter, and shared snow day moments, reminding everyone that learning is better when it’s shared. To wrap up the experience, GOAL hosted a Cozy Edition session, where students shared their favorite snow day playlists and exchanged ideas for fun, winter-friendly recipes to try at home.

Throughout each session, one thing was clear: GOAL students thrive when given opportunities to connect, collaborate, and be themselves. These snow day experiences reinforced that learning at GOAL goes far beyond academics—it’s about relationships, belonging, and community.

At Germantown Online Academy of Learning, learning truly is limitless—but more importantly, so is community.
