GOAL Students Gain Life-Saving Skills in First Aid Training

Students in grades 6–12 at Germantown Online Academy of Learning (GOAL) recently participated in an engaging and hands-on first aid training designed to equip them with practical, life-saving skills.

Throughout the session, students learned and reviewed essential emergency response techniques that could make a critical difference in real-life situations. They practiced the Heimlich maneuver and gained a clear understanding of how and when to use it in choking emergencies. In addition, students learned how to properly wrap sprained ankles, create slings for shoulder injuries, and splint wrists to stabilize potential fractures.

A highlight of the training included instruction on administering EpiPens during severe allergic reactions and performing CPR on both infants and adults. Students had the opportunity to practice proper techniques, ensuring they understood the differences in approach based on age and size.

The hands-on nature of the training gave students the confidence to respond calmly and effectively in emergency situations. Beyond learning procedures, they developed a greater awareness of safety, responsibility, and the importance of being prepared.

At GOAL, we are committed to providing students with meaningful learning experiences that extend beyond the virtual classroom. By equipping our students with real-world skills like first aid and CPR, we empower them not only academically, but also as capable and confident members of their community.
